Mission Statement:
The Accreditation Council for Psychoanalytic Education, Inc. (ACPEinc) is a not–for–profit organization without affiliation whose mission is to ensure that the highest standards of care are applied to those who seek psychoanalytic treatment. To accomplish this goal, the ACPEinc evaluates and accredits educational institutions that train and graduate practitioners of psychoanalysis. Its evaluation and accreditation criteria are based on the standards developed by the Psychoanalytic Consortium, an association of four major psychoanalytic membership organizations that together represent the majority of psychoanalysts in the United Sates: The American Academy of Psychoanalysis and Dynamic Psychiatry, the American Psychoanalytic Association, Division 39 (Psychoanalysis) of the American Psychological Association, and the American Association for Psychoanalysis in Clinical Social Work.

Vision Statement:
Our vision for the ACPEInc is that it will become the leading accrediting body recognized by the United Sates Department of Education for the evaluation and accreditation of institutions that train and graduate practitioners of psychoanalysis. We envision a future in which all such institutions will accept the ACPEInc’s Standards of Psychoanalytic Education which represents a comprehensive integration of the multiple theoretical approaches that exist in the profession. We envision a future in which all such institutions will utilize the ACPEInc’s Standards of Psychoanalytic Education as the basis on which to construct their curricula and will avail themselves of the opportunity to be accredited by the ACPEInc. Furthermore, we look forward to a future in which all practitioners of psychoanalysis will have graduated from institutions accredited by ACPEInc, and practitioners who possess this credential will serve all patients receiving psychoanalytic treatment.
